TRANS YOUTH CARE PACKAGES
I created this project because as a trans man who spent most of my childhood and teenage years searching to find who I was, but could never truly understand what that meant for me. It wasn’t until I got to college and met another trans person that I really started to understand why I was the way I was growing up.
Growing up I was very much the tomboy type who wore guys clothes and played multiple sports. I always wanted to fit in with the other guys, but didn’t know how to. As a kid I yearned for everything that the boys had; short hair, deeper voice, facial hair and to be able to be shirtless.
After I went off to college and started to explore my gender identity I finally realized that I was transgender. I believe that if I had something like my care packages to help me get started on my journey I would have come out much sooner in life having known that their was a support system out their for me to get resources from in order to start living as my authentic self.
Over the last year we have given out around 10 trans youth care packages to youth in our communities. Each package has been given to youth ranging from 8 years old to 14 years old. With each package we believe we can create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for trans youth to begin their journey of becoming their authentic selves.

It all started with a dream, that soon became a reality. Each care package comes with a stealth bros original Dopp kit, trans tape, a guide to socially transitioning that I created based off my own journey as a trans man, resources around binding and using binders/trans tape safely, fun stickers, pride flags and a book.
